My gr gr gr grandmother was an Augusta Moyer, who married a Frederich(k) Hilts(z). They were the parents of two daughters, Barbara and Elizabeth. Elizabeth married Loren Macomber. They were my gr gr grandparents. Their son, Amaziah Macomber (He changed the surname spelling to McComber in 1871 after he left Herkimer, NY and settled in what became Duluth, Minnesota) was my gr grandfather. Frederich(k) Hilts(z) was a veteran of the French and Indian War and had a grant of 200 acres from the king in Herkimer, NY. He was discharged from the American Revolution also, as an invalid, being deaf and nearly blind. He married my gr gr gr grandmother when he was quite old and she was a younger woman. I am trying to trace my records back to Augusta Moyer and Frederich(k) Hilts(z). She was a descendant of Dr. Eck who challenged Martin Luther to a debate on religion in Bavaria. I have some information on that which my grandfather wrote in a letter.
