Roger & David,

I viewed the Bible on microfilm at the Georgia State Archives and I now believe John Wells Moye was born March 22, 1848 not May 1846. The Bible gives this birth day and month. John's burial was in the West View Cemetery in Wrightsville,GA. I visited his grave and it is a new stone made by a granddaughter. His grave had a slab but no stone previous. So the birth date on the stone is in error I believe. I think she worked with the area historical society and I believe they got the date from a census record. She didn't know about the Bible at the time the stone was made. She had mentioned to a family member she wasn't sure of his date of birth. There are two unnamed graves with slab stones that are on each side of his grave. All three slabs are the same size. I don't know who the two unnamed stones belong to but they are close together and appear to have been family. Maybe the cemetery has some records.

In the Bible just under John's birth entry is his brother Robert Joyner Moye and Robert is born in 1846 and does have an original headstone on his grave. So the two couldn't have been born in 1846. They were not twins. John is always the younger one in the census records as well. Just wanted to give you the information about the stone at the cemetery and my updated birth for John Wells Moye.

Lydia
