Lilla: I don’t claim that my records are gospel by any means because they were compiled from various sources, some more reliable than others, but they coincide fairly closely with the information you posted so I’ll tell you what I have. I have Jesse Moye born around 1800 in White Co. AR marrying Elizabeth and having son James W. Moye in Haywood Co. TN in 1819. James W. Moye is the only child I have for Jesse and Elizabeth. James W. Moye moved from TN to AR in 1848, married Frances around 1852 and had your George W. Moye in Saline Co. AR in 1853. James W. Moye was a farmer and a Civil War vet, which could explain the gap betweeen the birth of your George W. (1853) and their second child, Charles (1867). They then had two girls, Mary and Ophelia, in AR in 1869. James W. Moye’s obituary said he was married four times and was 102 when he died but I only have a second marriage to Mary A. Lawrence in 1878. With Mary Lawrence he had 4 more sons and a daughter. Like you, I have both Wesley and Washington as George’s possible middle name. I also have his marriage to Tempie Ann Scott in 1873. In addition to the 3 children you mention – Wesley George (b. AR 1878), Robert Lee (b. AR 1881) and Tommy D (b. TX 1895) – I have Guss who was born in 1877 and died in 1878 and Arch who was born in 1880 and died in 1881. I have Jessie Lee Russell marrying George W. Moye’s son Robert Lee Moye in 1908. She died in OK in 1921 and Robert Lee Moye married Martha May Shaft in 1922. The W.F. Moye you found in the 1870 AR census is undoubtedly William Franklin Moye born in Pitt Co. NC in 1826, married Mary A. E. Preston around 1854 and had 2 sons – John Crawford Franklin Moye (b. TN 1855) and William A. Moye, born AR in 1857. This William must be the 21-year-old William you found in the census. It looks as if the 13-year-old Mary is his sister but this is the first time I have heard of her.
