Matthew Moye did have sisters, Martha and Michal. And yes, Martha did marry John Brabham of Barnwell Co. SC. Michal Moye married my ggg-grandfather, William Bassett, who died in 1810 in Barnwell. Michal herself died in 1812 (quite young, I'm assuming), leaving a small child (Gilford Basset, according to her will) to Martha and John Brabham to raise and the funds to do so. So from what you are saying, Gilford would have grown up with your ggg-grandfather Hampton Brabham (I presume you meant Brabham) I know that Gilford did stay with the Brabhams, because as late as 1824, funds were being withdrawn from the estate to educate him. Have you ever heard of the name? Or anything about him? Or is the name Hansford Bassett familiar?
