Mary Jane: Matthew Moye was the son of Richard Moye and his wife Phillany. Richard was the son of George Moye II and Elizabeth Gardner and back through him to the original Moye immigrant to Virginia from England in 1637 - John Moye and his wife Dorothy Wheeler who were killed in an Indian uprising in 1645. Like his father, Richard was a tobacco farmer. He is in the 1800 NC census. He married twice, first Susannah Ward in 1796 at Buford's Bridge, and second Harriet Odom Matheny six years before his death. With Susannah he had six children - George Ward Moye, Matthew Allen Moye, Gatsy Ann Moye, Michal Moye, William H. Moye and Betsy(Elizabeth) Moye. I have more on all of them if you need it.
