Sarah L. (Porter) Mowry, Highland Co., OH 1800s

Sarah L. (Porter) Mowry married to John N. Mowry in 1867. Sarah was born in Mowrystown, Highland Co., OH in 1843; and, according to his Civil War record, John was born in Brown Co., OH. The marriage record is located in Highland Co., OH. Sarah's first child, Emma Jane, was born in 1864, three years before Sarah married John. I am wondering if someone can confirm that Sarah L. (Porter) Mowry was married to another man first and that Emma Jane adopted his surname. Sarah's sister, Selina Porter married James Barngrover in Highland Co., OH. James was in the Civil War, too. Both sisters and their husbands moved to Kansas after the Civil War. Emma Jane married my great grandfather, Daniel Henry Jones, a Quaker from West Liberty, Indiana. Any information is appreciated.
