My great-grandmother was a Mowbray. Her father was named Richard Mowbray, born in 1814 in Yorkshire, he is listed in the 1841 census in Darfield, Yorkshire. He brought his family to New York in 1843 (wife Maryanne -1817? and 3 children (Mary, Anne, & Thomas - they had one more child in the US). They settled near Bruce, IL. He remarried sometime in the 1850's or early 1860's to Sophilia Ayers and had 2 children (Mary & Elizabeth Jane - my great-grandmother).

Richard's father was also Richard, was born in 1778 in Finningley, Yorkshire - married Martha Smith in Cantley, Yorkshire in 1808. He is listed in the 1851 census in Wombwell, Yorkshire.

I was wanting to know if anyone hooks into our Mowbray line.
