From my own knowledge, I am aware of past mousleys in Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Chesire. If you like, I can do further research. Also, i received this info from another website which is now down.
Authentic information extracted from the Mousley Family Name History.
The Mousley history has been located in the archives of the Historical Research Center and this renowned resource has authenticated the following information:
Mousley is a surname found primarily in England.
The surname Mousley is of local origin, deriving from the place where the ancestors of this lineage lived.
In studying our archives we found that one of the earliest references to the family name Mousley dates back in history to the year 1214.
There is documentation related to many Mousley family members and we mention here Anne Mousley by way of example.
The colour Sable (Black) in the coat of arms of the family Mousley symbolizes Constancy. It also reflects the hopes, ambitions and aspirations of its original bearer.
It is interesting to note that the Center's research historians have discovered various spelling forms for the family name Mousley and among them we find Muselee and Mowsley.
