Mourning-Mason Connection, VA-KY, 1800s
Posted by: E. Harold Vannoy Date: March 19, 2001 at 07:31:10

I am researching the Mason family of Spotsylvania Co., VA in the late 1700s and early 1800s. They later moved to Anderson Co., KY in mid-1800s.

In Spotsylvania Co., VA, Elizabeth Mason married ??? Mourning in the late 1700s or early 1800s. Children from this marriage are listed in an 1826 Mason will. I have no further information on this marriage.

In Anderson Co., KY, Elizabeth Mason married Benjamin Mourning on March 29 or 30, 1842.

In the 1850 Anderson Co., KY census a Susan Mourning, 45, is living in a household with James Mason, 74, Benjamin Mason, 19, and Benjamin Mason 85.

Can anyone help me understand this Mourning-Mason connection a little better? Thanks.
