Looking for information on a Samuel Mounts who was an adult ca. 1760 in Old Frederick Co., VA as evidenced by road orders:

November 4, 1766, FOB 13, p. 249
"Also that a Road may be Opened from Samuel Mounts upon Bullskins to the Road Leading to Ashby’s Gap. Ordered that James McCormack John Grantom and John Smith do view the ground and report their opinion of the same to the next Court.”

3 November 1767, FOB 14 Part 1, p. 146
“Ordered that Samuel Mounts Samuel Worthington James Pearson & Moses Walton or any Three of them being first sworn do View the Road from Samuel Mounts the Nearest & best way to Jacob Hites mill & Report the Conveniences & Inconveniences that may attend the opening a Road thereon”

Samuel Mounts appears to have lived on either Bullskin or Long Marsh Run. Other persons in the area at the time include James McCormick, David Kennedy, David Castleman, George & Edmond Rice,Owen Thomas, and Lindseys.

This Samuel may be the brother of Richard Mounts who mentions a brother Samuel in his will of 1760. Could he also be connected to the Providence Mounts who left Frederick and settled in western PA near Connellsville? Also, a Jospeh Mounts was in Old Frederick for awhile as well.

Thanks for any comments or help in linking these Mounts men.

Brenda
