My maternal grandfather was Charlie E. Mounce, 1911-1996. He was the youngest son of William Edward Mounce 1863-1948 (born in Tallipouche County, Ga., and died in Bastrop, La.) W.E. Mounce was the seventh child of Urbin Mounce (born in Georgia) and Martha Gillmore (or may be Reynolds), born 1826 in Macon County, Ga, and died 1914 in Louisiana. His elder siblings were Eunice, Jim M., Joe W., Mary Elizabeth (who married a Ross), Sophronia Adline, who married Amos Faust Baker, Sarah Mounce, who married Jacob Tingle. We've always heard the story that Urbin and Martha were traveling west and he died. She married again (a Mr. Reynolds, supposedly) and he took all her money and left her in Vicksburg, Miss., She moved on to Louisiana and reared her family.
I have plenty of information from there down, but nothing on Urbin or his family backwards. Any assistance you can share would be appreciated.
