You have that William Mounce of Macon Co, AL, was married to Mary Broom.The 1860 census shows she was born in SC.Living with her is Ottis Mounce b. 1838 in GA and near her is Virgil A. Mounce b. 1836 in SC.
I believe that Mary Broom is the daughter of William Broom of Fairfield Co, SC.His will was recorded June 17, 1828 where he bequeathed a mare and a negro girl Mary and 331 acres marked in a general plat with the name Mary Mounce No. 6.He also gives to his granddaughter Jane Mounce a bay colf of past spring.
How many Mounces can there be who married a SC girl named Mary Broom?The age is right, too.The 1860 census shows that she was born in 1800.On the list of William Broom's heirs (wife Amy may be Mary's mother), Mary is listed in between a bunch of siblings.Charles, the first named, was born in 1785 and Luke the last named in 1805.
