also researching this family

We are descended thru Robert Carroll Moultrie.

Information before William is not confirmed.
Possible ancestry of William M Moultrie(1878-1842):

7.4 William Moultrie(1752, SC-1796, TN) and Hannah Ainsle(1752-?)

7.5 William Moultrie(1730, SC-1805, SC) and Damaris E De St Julien(Jullen?)(1733-1779)

7.6 John Moultrie, b 1702, Goose Creek Scotland, d 1771 Charleston, St Michaels, and Lucretia Cooper(1707-1747).

A number of postings on Rootsweb home page, but did not see any with info before William M Moultrie.

1850 census of Obion County TN:
Arthur Carroll, 26, b TN, farmer
Jessie Carroll, 18, b TN
Edward Carroll, 65, b SC, farmer
Mary Mouterie(Mootrie, sp?), 34, b SC
Robert Mouterie, 14, b TN
Mary Mouterie, 4, b TN
Even though name is spelled Mouterie in census record, believe this is correct Moultrie family.
