The original spelling of the name was MOHLER, not MUELLER.They were in Germany for a couple generations, but originally from Switzerland, where the spelling MOHLER is still used today.See my page:

In early NC records the usual spelling was MOLER (which is still used by descendants of John's brother Valentine today), while John's descendants (including his son Valentine) went to MOULDER.
