Hi Rieta

Your data agrees with mine. In addition I have
George W. m1 Sarah Shell
John S. m. Margaret Frances Holly
William Henry Carter m. Mollie Delcenia Hendrix.

The name Mottern started out as Matter in Alsace, France and changed to Mattern in Berks Co, PA, then to Mothorn and Mottern in Tennessee. There are still a few Mothorns around, but they pronounce their name MOTT-HORN. William T.'s grandfather, John Nicholas Mottern bought land from George Greenaway in Sullivan Co, in 1811. Is he an ancester of yours? John Nicholas' name was Nicholas Martin in the deed.
