There is much information concerning this family to be found on line which is not correct.
Adam Mott, his wife Sarah, and their 5 children arrived in New England on the ship Defence in 1635.
There could have been no son born to them in R.I. in 1632.
One of the best references on early New England families are the volumes published around 1860 by James Savage.I noticed for the first time that this reference claims that Adam was first in Roxbury. He did not go to R.I. with his family until l638.
I am descended from the Adam Mott who arrived later and settled in Long Island. The only Grace of this time period was the mother of this Adam Mott.
The New England Adam may have had a second wife, but there is no way he had 3 to 5 more wives!Savage also noted that the son Adam married Mary Lott in 1647.
I like the comment made by Savage in the introduction."It seemed my duty to expose every error (in our genealogy) that has got imbedded in any reputable book."
I have seen some good comments a few months back by people who know more than I .Hope you hear from them.
