Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
My mother was in the Army and afterwards she & my dad had a second hand shop. She saved a couple of boxes full of military ribbons, medals, dog tags, etc. I don't know where some of them came from. I have a dog tag for a Gideon T. Motley. His next of kin, which I think is probably his father, is listed as Clay Walton Motley, Arnett Rd., Danville, VA.
If a descendant of this family is interested in receiving the dog tag, I'd be more than happy to send it. I tried contacting the various VFWs in the area and they didn't even get back to me. In this day and age, they probably thought it was some kind of scam. I know if someone had a piece of my family history, I'd appreciate getting it back.
