In the 1860 Pike Co. Al. census there is found a John J. Mote, 30, shoemaker,with wife Catherine 23, children; Charles R. 3 and Mary S. 2.I believe this could be my GM. She was a Devolin or Devlin before she married or raised or 'adopted by the Devolin\Devlin family.
If anyone is working on this line, I would be glad to share info with you. Thankx.
