I am looking for information on the Mosteller (Marsteller) Family line in Western North Carolina. The family line is Calvin, , Michael, Jr, Michael, Johan Peter, Christoph, Christoph, Hans.
While on the Masteller.org website I found an entry regarding Calvin Mosteller, b 5 Oct 1850, Lincoln Co, NC; d. 20 Sept 1915, Catawba Co, NC; m. Allie Foster.
1. I would like to know the source for the marriage to Allie Foster?
2. I have been trying to link Minnie Mae Mosteller Moses to the Mosteller family. Minnie was born Oct 1868 in Burke County. We believe Minnie was born between 1865 and 1869. The 1865 comes into play because of the marriage license that list her age as 20. The Federal census gives us a date of 1868-1869. Her obit gives us a date about 1867/1868, as her age was listed as 73. If her birthday was before census date then year would be 1867 or if after it would be 1868. She died June 1940 in Burke County, NC. Her marriage certificate, Moses Bible and obit listed her parents as Isaiah and Amy Reinhardt as her parents. I have recently learn from funeral home and court records that her father is listed as Calvin, son of Isaiah. Her mother is believed to be Delia Lowman. A document listing this information at the Burke County Court House also lists two bondsmen, the first being John Lutz and the second being Isaiah Mosteller. nd Amy, who she believed for many years to be her parents. It is my understanding that Calvin at age 19 had a child out of wedlock and this child was Minnie Mae.
To further confuse the matter, listed on 1870 census in house hold of Isaiah at age 1, is Sophronia and in 1880, Nina, age 12, which we have reason to believe is Minnie. However, we can not find any documents under either of the names, Sophronia, Nina or Minnie Mae. Also, it is believed that Minnie was part Indian.
