I haven't looked at these folks in quite awhile, so beware of my memory. Proof is fairly scarce, but here's how I think it goes.

John Mushbarger d.1801 in Greenbrier Co, VA (now WVA) with known sons Jacob and Samuel.

Samuel m. Catherine Bunger and migrated to KY.

Jacob m. Eva Bunger (perhaps Catherine's sister) and migrated to OH.

The Jacob (b. c1807 VA) that m.1829 Mary Bunger is Samuel's son. He is found near his father in the KY census, as well as being named in the will.

The older Jacob is not so easy. He is thought to be the fellow found in 1850 OH (b. c1790 MD). Also a mystery is John, b.1768 PA found near the others in OH.

Sorry I don't have more.
