Not sure where to start - there are so many Moshiers / Moshers out there....
One thing I guessed at based on the subject of your note is "sanford".Many Moshers left the Dartmouth Mass. / Little Compton RI section of New England in the late 1700's early 1800's for an area of Dutchess county NY called "Nine Partners".Many of the branches travel on from there all accross the US.Nine Partners became 5 towns in Duchess, One of which is Stanford.... there are many Moshers named Stanford in the early 1800's your father could be a decendant of one of these men.. As most of the Moshers in the Nine Partners were Quakers grave stones don't exist in this time period.
I also can look in the book "Decendants of Hugh Moshier through Six generations" by Clarenbach and see if there is any information there.. That is the almost bible of Mosher Geneology
