I’m glad you received the report I sent, and that it was of some use to you. I assume you are referring to the family tree file that you mentioned in your message #2022 on this forum when you ask about tracing our Moser family back to Switzerland. I must tell you that file is simply a waste of your time. The idea that our Moser family was in Switzerland, Austria, Alsace-Lorraine, Bavaria, Franconia, Baden, and Pennsylvania all in the span of three generations in patently ridiculous. It is also interesting to note, that the person who posted that file knows full well who it was that did the German research work included without citation as part of his file, but he refused to share that information with you.
The first known ancestor of our line was Hans Moser who came to Hetzweiler in Middle Franken from Lower Austria in 1653. There is absolutely no indication that he traces his ancestry back to Switzerland. There were four families who rented small holdings on two adjoining farms at Hetzweiler in that year. None of the names appear in the churchbooks of Weiβenkirchberg before that date, but all four of them appear after that date. I suspect that these were all Lutheran Germans who left Catholic Austria and moved to Hetzweiler together. Hans Moser was one of them. I have not done any research in Austria, but I will be happy to share my thoughts with any serious researcher who would like to take that project on.
