Henry Moser was enumerated with several slaves in the 1850 and 1860 Catawba county NC Census. I beleive they were all descendants of one Pair of slaves that he aquired between 1810 and 1820. After studying uncle Henry's will and tracing Camilla and Milus two of his slaves(Mother and son)in the census recrods after the civil war Milus is listed as a Moser but his mother and Grandmother went by McCorkle. This leads me to believe that the first pair of slaves were Mccorkles that were either purchased at the death of a McCorkle or came into the Moser family through Marriage. In 1850 the two oldest slaves are 70 years old and they have died by 1860. Here are the names of the slaves in Henry Mosers Will :Dated July 4th 1864 To his Grandniece Lavinia Mock Young he left: Ned and Wife Katie and four of their children:Rebecca,Julia Francis and Henry, to his Niece Polly Moser Dagenhart(my great great Grandmother)he left :Eliza and her Child Miles (Family Tradition says Polly's husband Henry Dagenhartwas the father of Milus),Camilla and her three chidlren: Candice ,Jane and Merietta. to his son George Henderson Moser he left: Peter and Siles and His wife Emma and Theire Increase, also Silas and emmas Chidlren and their increase: John,Martha,Mike,Jospehine,Peny ,Samuel and a girl named Nancy By the time of his death Uncle Henry Moser was living in alexander County on the Mock Mill Tract. Some of the slaves intermigled with the slaves of Moses and Allen Alexander. Silas' wife emma may ahve been an Alexander. In The 1870 Alexander county Census we find the following: Ada Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1862 North Carolina Colored Female Emma Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1830 North Carolina Colored Female Francis Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1856 North Carolina Colored Female John Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1850 North Carolina Colored Male Martha Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1854 North Carolina Colored Female Mitchell Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1852 North Carolina Colored Male Nancy Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1846 North Carolina Colored Female Perry Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1858 North Carolina Colored Male Samuel Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1860 North Carolina Colored Male Silas Moser Millers, Alexander, NC abt 1820 North Carolina Colored Male Eliza Mccorkle Sharps, Alexander, NC abt 1840 North Carolina Colored Female in the household of her Mother Catherine/She was the Katie in Henry Msoers Will and Old Ned has passed away: Catherine Mccorkle Sharps, Alexander, NC abt 1810 North Carolina Colored Female Eliza Mccorkle Sharps, Alexander, NC abt 1840 North Carolina Colored Female Francis Mccorkle Sharps, Alexander, NC abt 1856 North Carolina Colored Female Henry Mccorkle Sharps, Alexander, NC abt 1852 North Carolina Colored Female Nancy Mccorkle Sharps, Alexander, NC abt 1849 North Carolina Colored Female Rebecca Mccorkle Sharps, Alexander, NC abt 1857 North Carolina Colored Female also in his Grandmothers home is Young Miles Moser(Dagenhart)age 15 listed as Mulatto in the 1850 Slave record census for Catawba County we see: slave owner place 70 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 70 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 38 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 37 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 16 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 14 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 12 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 11 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 6 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 4 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 0Male Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina 0Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Catawba, North Carolina and in 1860 Slave Owner Place 46 Male Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 40 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 19 Male Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 18 Male Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 14 Male Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 10 Male Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 8 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 6 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 5 Male Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 3 Female Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina 1 Male Black Henry Moser Not Stated, Union, North Carolina hopefully through time we can reconstruct these families. The Family Of Uncle Miles Moser and Wife Nettie Morrison ahs been traced but none of the others as of yet. Henry Moser's wife Elziabeth remains a Mystery but I believe she was a McCorkle or a McCorkle widow. I believe that the census taker was wrong and one of the 70 year old slaves in 1850 was a man or bewteen 1850 and 1860 Uncle Henry Bought Ned McCkorkle Notify Administrator about this message?
