RE:WILLIAM MOSELEY OF RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER
AREA - CA 1650s-1670s:
Willuam MOSELEY m. to Martha BRASSEUR by
1659/1660.The conveyance of land inherited
by Martha from her father Robert BRASSEUR was
recorded Old Rappahannock Co. Deed Book 2, pp 99-100.
This William in area by early 1650s & deeds
recorded in Lancaster Co. named him as a
mrchant with connections to Rotterdam
merchants.He, the Underwoods and Humphrey
BOOTH appear to have settledin area at same
time.
Martha MOSELEY survived her husband; married
to Col. George TAYLOR by 1683.
William, son of William, m. Hannah HAWKNS,
dau. of Thomas HAWKINS.Siblings were
Benjamin MOSELEY, Edward MOSELEY and Robert
MOSELEY.Robert had 3 sons, Benjamin, Edward and William. The latter moving to Goochland
Co. by 1731 where he sold the Essex Co. land
of his father.
William and Hannah had 3 chldren and, yes,
there was another William! Also, John and
Martha.
William and Martha had at least 5 children.
I haven't been able to discover any reference to GOOKIN.
Hope this helps more than confuses.
