Hi, Lynda. Here is some information about male descendants of Benjamin Moseley of Bute County, NC and Wilkes County, GA. Maybe someone eligible for the DNA study will see an ancestor listed here. As a reminder to readers, participants in the DNA study must be male and descended from a completely male Moseley lineage. Benjamin Moseley of Bute Co., NC and Wilkes Co., GA died in Wilkes Co., GA about 1792 and named sons Benjamin, William, and Jonathan in his will. Benjamin’s son William died in Lincoln Co., GA in 1811, naming sons Benjamin and Laban in his will. This last Benjamin married Sally Paradise and had at least one son, Jonathan Moseley. Jonathan was born ca 1813 and died at Nacogdoches Co., TX in 1873. He married Mary Ann Vann and had a son named Henry Evans Moseley. Henry Evans Mosely was born in 1840 either in SC or GA and died at Shreveport, LA in 1900. His wife was Louise Ellen Hodge. Later generations of this family settled in LA. Most of this lineage was compiled by Mrs. Margaret Hays Mosely Duckworth. If anyone reading this is descended from any of these men, is a male descendant with the last name Moseley, and would be interested in participating in the Moseley DNA project, please reply to this message and/or contact Lynda Moseley for more information. I believe that I am descended from the first Benjamin, but through a female line (daughter Seally), so my family members are not eligible for the study.
