thanks for your reply. my ancestor is john moseley born north carolina in abt. 1760. he married a elizabeth barton. their children were polly, elizabeth, john jr. and edward. i have a history book on early east tn. this are was part of north carolina in the beginning. john and his family moved to montgomery co tn in 1805. this robert was in the east tn area in the 1770s. do you have any information on your ancestor john moseley of 1702. were these moseleys french or english. i have tried for years to get past my john moseley but there are so many moseleys. would appreciate any help. thanks ralph
