Ref: NICHOLAS MOSBY, husband of SUSANNAH HOBSON - Will of her father as follows - "Cumberland County Will Book 2:231" 1777 - On the 27 of March, the last WILL of JOHN HOBSON, written 26th of December 1771, was proved. Devisees included his wife, SARAH, daughters, DRUSILLA [Hobson] THOMSON [Benajah], SUSANNA [Hobson]MOSBY [wife of NICHOLAS], SARAH HOBSON, NANCY HOBSON, and son JOHN HOBSON to whom he gave the 400 acres. "whereon I now live and adjoining the tract purchased of Gideon Patteson," son WILLIAM to whom he devised the remainder of the tract purchased by Gidwon Patteson, and THOMAS to whom he gave the land and plantation in Buckingham COunty. JOHN appointed his wife, SARAH and friends WILLIAM HOBSON, NOCHOLAS MOSBY and FREDERICK HATCHER his executors. He asked NICHOLAS MOSBY to remain as overseer and be paid for such service. Witnesses: Archibald HATCHER, John OVERTON, Drury HATCHER. Will probated June 23, 1777. end - Other important data relative to those above - 1777 WILLIAM HOBSON was appointed guardian to JOHN - WILLIAM* - and THOMAS HOBSON, infants of JOHN HOBSON dec'd. Cumberland County OB 11:425 1779 SARAH (Sallie) HOBSON, dau of JOHN HOBSON dec'd married WILLIAM HILL - CCMRB: Females... 1782 All three sons of JOHN HOBSON dec'd chose guardians. THOMAS HOBSON chose: JOHN HOBSON, WILLIAM HOBSON* chose FREDERICK HATCHER and JOHN HOBSON chose WILLIAM HOBSON JR. - Nov 25th 1782, CCOB 1779 - 1884: 242, 289. *WILLIAM HOBSON is my husband's ancestor. I believe by the suggested records above that he would be sister to SUSANNAH HOBSON who married NICHOLAS MOSBY.
