Greetings,
I am searching for information on the family of:

James C. Morton b. Feb 1847 Virginia
Martha S. (Gilbert?) "Mattie" b Feb 1858
dau. Mintie b. January 1882 Missouri
dau. Alma b. May 1886 Missouri
son Walter G. b. Oct 1887 Missouri
son Claud b. July 1891 Missouri
dau. Pearl M. b. Apr 1899 (d. Feb 15 1990) Missouri

The family story is:
At 13-14 years of age ran away to fight for the Confederacy. He was captured and sent to a Missouri pow camp. At the end of the war he stayed in Missouri.
Martha S. "Mattie" was from a well to do family named Gilbert.

Things I know:
"Mintie" lived to be very old and lived in the area around Hermann, Jonesburg, and Warrenton Missouri. She had two sons, one was named Tinsley. She died @ 1970.

Alma was a schoolteacher and as of Dec 21 1909 was teaching at the Oakland School,(whereabouts unknown,
in the picture I have it is a rural setting and there are about 15 students) Alma died young, @1920-25.

Walter G. was thought to have gone to Texas to make his fortune.

Claud died young in an accidental shooting accident @1901-1910.

Pearl M. (my gm),became a teacher in 1919 and taught school in Hermann Missouri for the majority of her life. She died there in 1990.
Her husband was Harrison John Spencer, he was born Jan 30 1883 near Jonesburg and died St. Charles Feb 14 1965.

Thank You for reading my story, any help is appreciated.
