I am seeking information on "Jan Morton late of Edenton in North Carolina, merchant, deceased and only daughter & heir at law of George Morton of the town and County of Newcastle upon Tyne [England] mercer and clothier deceased" and on her father. They both died before 1756.
Her heirs were "William Pick of Newbigin in the Parish of Newburn in the county of Northumberland, gentleman, and Margaret his wife".
George Morton may have been a descendant of "George Morton, draper, alderman, and twice mayor of this town, he departed this life the 26th day of November, Anno Dom' 1693", buried at All Saints Church, Newcastle.
