According to the "Morse Genealogy" book by J. Howard Morse (pp. 117-118), Charles was born Mar. 20, 1754 & Sarah Gay was born Dec. 23, 1753.
The parents for neither is given. It is suggested that Charles was from the area in or around Walpole, Mass. Apparently he came down from Maine to Walpole to register for the Revolutionary War.
In the Mass. vital records I have access to, I can't find a birth record for either Charles or Sarah on the dates given. Also no marriage record for them (including in Dedham).
The book also has Charles dying on Dec. 19, 1830 in son Simeon's home, & Sarah dying in Camden on Dec. 18, 1849. They were buried in Madison, Maine on son Isaac's farm.
Children listed (all born in Camden):
- Joe, who married Clarissa Reeves
- Simeon, married Mary Pendleton (she b. Oct. 18, 1787 & d. May 27, 1859)
- Isaac, who married Betsey Pitcher
- Charles, who married Sabra Sweetland
