Gregory,
I have been in contact with Thomas Morrissey, of Tecumseh, and sent the clipping to him.Thomas is also a grandson of Andrew.I took the liberties of scanning the clipping. If you will send me an email: [email protected]
I will send you the picture.
Here is the history of the clipping:
We were cleaning up some storage areas in our old church building here in Dunedin, Florida and collected quite a stack of old Bibles and hymnals.I spied an old book, "The Saint's Everlasting Rest".The book was originally written in the 1600s by the Rev. Richard Baxter, a contemporary of Cromwell. This version was published by the American Tract Society, Boston, but contains no date.It is inscribed--faintly--to a Jack Graves (possibly-- it's hard to read) as a gift on Christmas Day, 1860.Aside from smelling a little musty, the book is in excellent condition.I'm currently leading a Bible study on the book of Hebrews, so it's quite a blessing to have this book as an added reference as it deals with the very subject matter I am currently teaching.
I suppose the untold story is how this book, with your family's picture, wound up in Dunedin. We'll probably never know.
The back side of the clipping has a partial article referring to a Dr. (William) Greene, an early aviator from Alberta and mentions a short takeoff of 30 feet which a quick Google search revealed to have taken place in 1909.
Other articles refer to Niagra, Niagra Falls, Rochester, Buffalo, Albany and New York, New York.I believe this clipping is from a New York paper from June 1910, so it's older than I first believed.
Best regards
