Hello Brent
I believe that one of the grandchildren (?) of Patrick Morrissey would have been my uncle, William Morrissey, who was born in Otago in 1895.My uncle Bill trained onboard a sailing ship between the ages of (roughly) 10 and 15, joined the Anzacs on the outbreak of World War I, and was seriously wounded at Gallipoli (he was shot through the lung - would have been his heart if a notebook hadn't deflected the bullet).Sometime in the 1920s he emigrated to America, married my mother's sister, Olga Obradovich, and settled in San Franciso where they ran a wholesale coffee and spice business (the Union Coffee Company) until they retired in the 1960s.My uncle Bill was a wonderful man with a great sense of humour and terrific stories which frequently scandalised his wife.He died in January 1968 and was buried in Colma, California. He never returned to New Zealand, though he often spoke of it.I remember that one of his sisters became a nun in Otago and was still alive when I was a kid.
I hope this is of interest - sounds like this was a prolific family and you have a number of blank spaces to fill in.
BTW, I married an Australian and now live on the other side of the Tasman.
regards
Bob Hunt
