BENJAMIN FRANKLIN MORPHEW was born 28 February 1811 at Ashe County, N.C. and died April 27, 1897 at North Salem, Hendricks County, Indiana. The birth state is confirmed in the 1850 U.S. Census of Floyd County, Indiana. Married 1st on 7 August 1832 in Putnam County, Indiana to Rebecca Bridgewater and 2nd on 2 September 1840 at Putnam County, Indiana to Jane Todd Cheshire and this family is on the 1840 and 1850 U.S. Census of Floyd Township, Putnam County, Indiana. Benjamin lived at Floyd Township, Putnam County, Indiana in 1840 and later in Hendricks County, Indiana.
Children of the first marriage are: (1) Daniel Morphew (1833), (2) Joseph E. Morphew (23 Nov. 1835), (3) William Andrew Morphew (1837), (4) Catherine Morphew (1839). Children of the 2nd marriage: (1) David Morphew (9 May 1841), (2) Benjamin Franklin Morphew III (1843), (3) Nathan Morphew (9 October 1844), (4) Elizabeth Morphew (1846), Joanna Morphew (3 March 1848), (5) Joshua Morphew (1853), and (6) step son Alexander Cheshire (11 November 1837).
