Thanks, Sandee. Because of your e-mail, I am very confident that Moulay Ziden is Sidan en Nasir. I am also becoming very UN-confident that Anthony "The Turk" Van Salee is Moulay's grandson! It looks as though Anthony's "mother" was indeed "Moroccan", maybe even Zidan's daughter, but it's also beginning to look as though he and his brothers were RAISED by daughter of Zidan, but that their MOTHER was a concubine -- possibly a Spaniard of mixed ethnicity (Spanish?/prob. Moorish/Jewish??). That would explain the birthdates of the sons, (BET 1600/07) and marriage date to daughter of Ziden (1608), their Christian (and Jewish?) names, yet Anthony's "mulatto" complexion and Moslem religion, and would fit in well with what I am starting to learn about the father, Jan Janse Van Haarlem, the adventurous buccaneer-turned-admiral.
