For those looking for information about early members of the Church and their families, I would highly suggest this great resource. As far as I know, it's currently only available at BYU. My understanding is that it was essentially like a "scrapbook" for the Church as a whole that was kept for many decades by the Historian's Office--for example, it has articles from the local newspapers from that day and other news. It is indexed by name so you can quickly do a search of what dates your ancestor's name appears on, and then you can quickly track through and find the full article on that date. We have Orson Pratt and Parley P. Pratt in our line, so there were literally hundreds of entries about them. However, I also had good success finding entries relating to members of their family, like obituaries, and other random but interesting tidbits! So if you're close to BYU or making a trip to Utah, you may want to spend a little time with the Journal History of the Church.
