Back about 1990 a lady who was head of the Morgan Log House in PA came to Clarke Co. with a big genealogy chart showing Daniel Boone and Daniel Morgan were first cousins, and that Daniel's mother and step-father died in Berkeley Co. She had no documentation to her work, and later it was proved she worked up the genealogy back to Wales to keep the old man who owned and was restoring the log house happy. She was dismissed from there, but that genealogy chart seems to have had puppies...4 or 5 Morgan family websites have this tree and are VERY adamant that the info is correct and that she was right. Daniel Morgan did have an illegitimate son named Willoughby, but we have NEVER been able to connect Daniel to siblings and parents. No one is even sure that Hunterdon, NJ is his correct birthplace, because when Daniel enlisted in Ashby's Rangers in 1755 he said he was born in PA.
Daniel had more controversy than most-South Carolinians came up to Winchester in the 1950s to dig him up and take him to SC; his coffin plate was stolen when he was moved from Old Stone to Mt. Hebron cemetery and is now in Wisconsin, 4 different states tried to dig him up from 1865-1890 and take him to his various 'homestates'. If we could get a male descendant of Willoughby to do the DNA test a lot might get accomplished. Anyone out there??
