We may never know for sure just which story of Daniel Morgan is real, but I choose to go by the REV WAR Pension records and it states "Daniel Morgan Virginia Militia and Continental Army. Born in County Derry, Ireland in 1736. came to America in early life with his father. Served as Brigadier in the Continental line."

I have read several accounts so it is very heard to know what to believe because some have him born in NEW JERSEY, some in PA., some say he is Welch but the military records state Ireland. some of the researchers that claim him are of Irish Descendant according to DNA records at the Morgan DNA web site. My DNA line come from Caerleon Wales of Sir John Morgan. We were lucky to get a match from some one who lived there until 1950 and had some of there history.

General George Washington writes about Daniel Morgan in his Diary but I have not read all of them as it would take too much time and they are hard to read. Yes, some of the researcher go by family lore that has been handed down from one generation to another. I am sure Daniel had brother's and sister's as some have stated so evey though he was at odds with his father and left home at a young age and had nothing to do with his father did not mean he also had no relationship with them.

MORGAN MORGAN also states he was born 24 Aug 1760 in Lancaster PA, and was the son of Nathaniel Morgan and moved with his father as a child to Montgomery VA where he enlisted in the VA. militia on Flower Swiift's 1st undated militia roster of men from southwestern Va.After the war he moved to Wythe co VA. in 1795 he moved to Fayette KY and in 1802 moved to Cumberland Co KY. he applied for pension there in 1833. Maybe some think he is the brother too but DNA is the answer to alot of these question. It helped us with our genealogy.
