If you look at the Morgan soldiers of the Rev War, look at Simon who was a Capt. it tell you more about this family.
Simon Morgan
VA Militia Served as a Captain. He was wounded in Battled of Eutaw Springs. He married Elizabeth Pickett 28 Mar 1786 Fauquier Co Va. She was the daughter of Capt William Pickett. He later became the Adjutant Gen of Va. and held that rank when he died in Fauquier Co. 6 July 1810. He received disability pension 1808. His widow later moved to Fleming KY. and applyied for a pension there in 1839 at age 73. She was living with her son Col D. Morgan who was a member of the KY. State Senate. She was living there in 1843. Another son Charles W. Morgan was a Captain in the US Navy.

My question,__ is this the mother of Daniel Morgan and why did she refer to him as Col, D. Morgan. I think you are right that James Morgan in PA was not his father. But I do think this is his mother. I have not researched this line yet. Was his mother married to another Morgan as she married Simon after Daniel was born? More questions than answers here.

Col, Daniel Morgan Born 1736- 1802 was born in Hunterdon New Jersey. There is a lot more on his military history at this site for the American rev Soldiers. I also show a Benjamin Morgan born 10 Oct. 1762 in Fauquier Co Va Maybe a brother.
