I think William Morgan Sr of Anson, was the father of all these Morgan's living in Chatham. I think some of these researcher's might be wrong. I don't know if this is your John or not?
It is a good idea to do the DNA testing to prove your line. I understand there could be more than 1 John Morgan living there at that time. My Morgan's were from Edgecombe and Nash NC and we are in group 4 at
www.small-stuff.com/MORGAN
Terry is in group 1
We had a match to Caerleon Wales and I think we are related to the Orange NC line of Essex VA. Some researcher's also claim to this line but their DNA did not prove it.
John Morgan of Chatham co NC stated in his Rev Pension papershe was born in NC (I believe in Anson), NC, he moved to Chatham to where he enlistedand stated after the War he moved to Tippah Mississippi to be with his children. He appliedfor his pension in 1833 while living in Fayette co Alabama age 70. he died 15 Aug 1844

His dtr says his father was Williamand mother was Joyce. William children was William JR, Robert's and others who names cannot be read.
James Morgan born 1 april 1758 in Anson, NC. He lived in Mecklenburg co NC where he enlisted in the NC Militia.moved to Caswell Co. NC then Washington Co . VA. applied for pension in 1836. By 1844 he moved to Coffee TN,. Then to Franklin Tn. He died inMS 12 Oct 1851. in His widow applied for his Pension in 1858 age abt 67 and she died in Tippah MS.1865 at her dtrs home.
