Hi Carol. Elizabeth McKinney Morgan’s parents are still a mystery to me, but I did find some other information on her. Here is all that I have. Born about 1820 in Tenn. Married on 26 Oct. 1837 to Vincent B. Morgan in Grant Co., Wisconsin. As per Wisconsin Marriages 1835-1900. He was about 24 yrs. And she was abt. 17 yrs old. 1840 US FED. Census dated 1 June 1840 of Western Division, Grant Co., Wisconsin Territory, Vincent B. Morgan (age 20/30) he was 27, and family: 1 female (age 20/30) Eliz. would be 20, and 1 male under 5 yrs. and 1 female under 5 yrs. I believe these were Sarah C. born abt. 1839 and William E born abt. 1840. 1842 Wisconsin State Census (1820-1890), Vincent B. Morgan Western Div., Grant Co., Wisc. State. 1850 US Fed. Census, District 26, Richland Co. Wisc. V.B. Morgan, 37. Elizabeth Morgan, 29. Sarah C., 11. William E. 10. Melinda J., 8 (my line), Alexander, 5. George W., under 1 yr. 1853- Vincent B. Morgan died at age 40- reasons unknown at this time. 1855 Wisconsin State Census, Richland Co., Richwood Twnsp. Elizabeth Morgan listed as head of household (would only happen if she was a widow). Has family of 3 males (her boys?) and 2 females (this would include her self). Farther down page is a John Faith as head of household and one female. Could this be Sarah C. Morgan at about age 16, since she is not counted with Elizabeth? The page also tells the males military assignment and John is listed with the 11th Wisc. Regiment, Company H. 1860 US Fed. Census of Clayton, Crawford Co., Wisc. Elizabeth Button age 40, born abt 1820, Tenn. Living with husband, Thomas Button, and sons Alexander, 15, born abt 1845, Wisc., and George, age 10, born abt. 1850, Wisc. I believe these people to be our Elizabeth Morgan and her youngest sons. Evidently she remarried in 1858 and had a daughter Mary Button in 1859. Mary would be related to us through Elizabeth. 1860 US Fed. Census: Paris, Grant Co., Wisc., John Feurth(Faith misspelled?) age 25 with wife Sarah, age 20 born abt 1840, Wisc,. and son William, 5yrs., daughter Elizabeth, 2 yrs., and daughter Melissie, 1 yr. On 8 January, 1860 Malinda J. (age 17) married David Hubanks in Bell Center, Crawford Co., Wisc. and is listed with him on the Census. !860-1865. I found some references to William E. Morgan’s military service during the Civil War. He did not marry until abt. 1866. 1870 US Fed. Census, Eagle, Richland Co., Wisc. Elizabeth Button, 50 and Thomas Button, 64 with Mary Button, age 11. Farther down page is Melissa Hillberry, age 21 living with her family. 1870 US Fed. Census: Richwood, Richland Co., Wisc., William Morgan, age 30, and wife Leafy(?), 23 ( married abt. 1866), daughter Mary E., age 3 yrs. and daughter Nora A., age 2 yrs. Believe this is Elizabeth’s son, and Melinda’s brother, explanation later. * In this same Census in same town is living Alexander Morgan, age 25 born abt.1845, Wisc. He is living with the Myron Whitcomb family. Both V.B. Morgan and all the McKinneys were pioneer business and political friends with Myron Whitcomb, so Myron would have known Alex Morgan since birth. 1880 US Fed. Census:. Scott, Crawford Co., Wisc.: William Morgan, age 40 and wife Lafe A.? (married abt 1866) with daughter Mary E.,13. Nora A.,12. Allice A.,8. Ida A.,4 and M. Webb, 24, a widower. * This young man was the husband of Margaret (Maggie) Hubanks Webb, b. abt 1863/4 in Wisc., the daughter of Melinda J. Morgan Hubanks and David Hubanks. She was married to Marvin Webb in 1878 and had a son, Early E. Webb in Aug. 1879. Then she died in Sept. 1879 from complications of the birth. Melinda and David Hubanks took the baby with them and he is on the 1880 Marietta, Crawford Co., Wisc. Census as their 10 mon. old grandson. That would make Elizabeth McKinney Morgan his Great-Grandmother. Try looking into the Webb family history for more about Elizabeth. 1880 US Fed. Census, Richwood, Richland Co., WI: Elizabeth Morgan is living with Alex and Melissa (Hillberry) Morgan, married 2 Sept. 1877 and their daughter Eliza, age 1 yr. Also a Thomas Elmer,11, and Frank Faith,16. Are both of these youths the sons of Sarah C. Morgan, Elizabeth’s daughter? I don’t have much information on Sarah C. after her first marriage. Anything you can fill in would be very helpful. I have nothing on Elizabeth after 1880. Alex Morgan died in 1892 and Melissa Hillberry Morgan died in 1844. They are both buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Richland Co. I have searched all of the cemeteries in Richland Co. and did not find Elizabeth McKinney Morgan Button listed in any of them.
