Basil R. Morelock, 76, of Beech Creek Community,
Rogersville, Hawkins Co TN, passed away on Sunday,
February 15, 2009, at his home after a period of declining
health.
He retired from the Sullivan County Highway Department.
His hobbies included fishing, and he loved his roosters.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley; his
parents, Base and Viola Morelock; a sister, Emily; and a
brother, Ray Morelock.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Gregg and husband
Clay, of Kingsport, TN, and Karen Renfro and husband
Lanie, Beech Creek, Rogersville, TN; two sons, Eddie Allen
and wife, of Crossville, ALA, and Rick Morelock of the
home, Rogersville, TN; eight grandchildren, Mandy, Nicole,
Damien, Joseph, Angelina, Phillip, Jonathan, and Zane; and
three great-grandchildren, Thì Le, Danyl, and Sean; a
sister, Thelma Light, of Rogersville, TN; a brother,
James 'Chippy' Morelock; and several nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral
Home, Fall Branch, TN, on Wednesday, February 18, 2009,
from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Services will follow at 8 p.m.,
with Rev. Teddy Webb and Rev. Jack Morelock officiating.
Honorary minister will be Orville Dolen.
Burial will be at 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2009,
at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Rogersville,
TN.
Pallbearers will be Lanie Renfro, Damien Morelock, Joel
Williams, Dewayne 'Archie' Head, Billy Light, and Roy Lee
Crawford. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Gregg, Junior
Light, and Jimmy Fann.
Memorial gifts may be sent to Hamlett-Dobson Funeral
Homes, P.O. Box 27, Kingsport, TN 37662-0027, to help
defray funeral costs.
