Aden Bates Morelock, 85, 325 Morelock Lane, Chuckey, Greene
Co TN, passed away Tuesday morning, August 12, 2008 at his
residence.
He was born April 13, 1923, Hawkins Co TN. He was of the
Baptist Faith of which he put the Lord first in everything,
a God fearing Christian. He served as a deacon in two
different churches, thirteen years at Alleghany Free Will
Baptist Church and twenty three years at Union Temple Free
Will Baptist Church.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grand-
father. He was a farmer and dairyman. He raised beef cattle
and raised tobacco of which he loved doing.
He was preceded in death by a son who went to be with the
Lord on January 18, 1999, James Aden Morelock; his parents,
James and Sylvania Hensley Morelock; two brothers, Emerson
Morelock and Grady Morelock; two sisters, Hortense Manier
and Roxie McLear; one infant brother and one infant sister.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, being married on
July 24, 1944, Elizabeth Jones Morelock; one son and one
daughter-in-law, Jerry P. and Billie Jo Thornburg Morelock;
two granddaughters and their husbands, Angie Morelock and
Jason Lesselyong of Greeneville, TN, Jamie and Lynn Gunter
of Chuckey, TN; five grandsons and their wives, Jason and
Mandi Morelock of NC, Robert and Karen Bright Hensley of
Limestone, TN, Junior and Becky Hensley of Morristown, TN,
Billy and Karan Norton of Chuckey, TN; several great-grand-
children, a host of nieces and nephews from Tennessee,
Illinois and Missouri and Arizona.
The funeral service will be at 8 p.m. on Thursday, August
14, 2008 in the Chapel of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home
with Rev. Danny Willis and Rev. Ronnie Duncan officiating.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2008 at
Fairview Cemetery on Snapps Ferry Road.
Friends and family are asked to meet at the funeral home
by 10 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Active
pallbearers will be, Junior Hensley, Chad Morelock, Robert
Hensley, Bill Norton, Jimmy Shelton, Jackie Burke, Jason
Morelock and Jason Lesselyong.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Howard Thornburg, Jerry
Kischee, Dr. Sens, Eric and staff, Dr. Coy Stone, Dr.
Aashiem, Dr. Abernathy, Dr. Davis, and other Doctors at
Laughlin Hospital. The family will receive friends at
Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on
Thursday, August 14, 2008. Condolences may be sent to the
