Mary,
Check out the Ellis Island websight if you haven't done so. I found the different years my g-father entered the "New World" to work and save money. He returned to N.Y.C. the final time with my g-mother. The Ellis Island web-sight also provided the name of the ship that they traveled on, some of it's "stats" and an illustration of the liner(possibly taken from a post card).
