At, I filled in the box for father's name with the name Lemuel Morehouse and for the mother's box, I put the first name of Sarah. It gave me a list of their children with birthplace and date. My ancestor--Joel, born 1761-- is the next sibling after yours. The source is the Barbour collection of Connecticut vital records prior to 1850. My brick wall is finding out who his wife was and their other children besides my ancestor--Ambrose G. Morehouse. Joel went to Galway in Saratoga County,NY, then to Tully NY, then to Orleans County, NY. Someday, I will have to go to Ridgefield, Conn to search the records. I did find some information on Capt Lemuel Morehouse in the "Colonial Records of Connecticut" which I found in the local history section of the Rochester public library. Also, sometime during the period 1789 to 1792, a Sarah Morehouse in Ridgefield is mentioned as having received a payment from the government for losses because of the British incursions during the Revolution. Also, the booklet "Ancestry and Descendants of Gershom Morehouse Jr. of Redding, Connecticut, a captain in the American Revolution" is very helpful for earlier ancestors.
I can look up more details if you are interested.
What is your source for Sarah's maiden name of Smith? Do you know anything about her?
Rebecca Johnson Ott, Rochester, NY
