Hi, Couple of additions. It appears that Armistead Morehead is the father of James Turner Morehead, which means that there is a possibility that James Turner Morehead and William T. Morehead were brothers. At the time of Armistead's death in 1826, James was of-age and William was not yet of-age. This matches the known data for these two. Armistead was a banker, suggesting that he had the means for William to become well-educated. James became a lawyer - his path to the Governor's mansion. William was apparently very bright, well-educated, and very much a leader. That explains why he came to Arkansas and hit the ground running. Your grandfather's comments provide a little more support for this hypothesis. Family stories can be tricky, but they almost always have a grain of truth. Also: I listed grave markers in Friendship. I should have shown Susie as James T.'s wife. Both are buried next to Ruby, their daughter. Bennie, Johnnie and Mable are apparently John and Emma's children. There is no gravestone for Hugh at this cemetery. I forgot to mention that Nita, Tee's wife, makes a mean pineapple upside down cake. :-) - Dale Notify Administrator about this message?
