Russell F. Moran, 88, of 1075 Main Street and formerly of Spencer, died Thursday, May 20 in UMass Memorial Medical Center, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Bertha I. (Farr) Moran; a son, Thomas W. Moran and his companion Deborah Heckman of St. Augustine, FL; two daughters, Linda P. Bourie and her husband George of Leicester, Susan D. Wyco of St. Augustine, FL; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Vibber and her husband Jeffrey, Amie Nemes and her husband William, Melissa Dupuis and her husband Christopher, Spiro and Christina Mantzio, Danielle Dulugas and Dustin Moran; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ashleigh, Olivia, Emily, Erik, Caleb and Alissa; his Goddaughter, Margaret Carr and her husband Greg of Warren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is pre-deceased by a sister, Shirley Munic and a son-in-law, Steve Wyco.
Mr. Moran was born in Spencer, son of Thomas and Pearl (Ethier) Moran. He was a Supervisor for many years at Consolidated Fabricators in Auburn before retiring in 1986. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He enjoyed a long retirement, hunting, fishing, the Boston Red Sox and cards. He loved to tease.
A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 26 in Brookfield Congregational Church, 8 Common Street, Brookfield at 1:30 PM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The family will received people from 1:00-1:30 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Overlook Hospice Services, 88 Masonic Home Road, Charlton, MA 01507.
