Carol: Jacob Moorman (1763-??) married Katherine Grooms 3 Mar 1800. She was his second wife; his first was Nacny Ellage who he married 3 Apr 1787. Katy Grooms Moorman died in childbirth and her daughter, Nancy, was raised in VA by her maternal grandfather.
After Katy's death, Jacob pulled up stakes and headed to Georgia where he settled in Hancock Co. near his remarried mother Sarah Moon Moorman Gilbert. Jacob and his brother Pleasant Moorman remained in Georgia until about 1820 when both migrated to Alabama. Where they went after Alabama I do not know but it is quite possible that one or both could have headed to MO. (I vaguely recall that Pleasant ultimately settled in Arkansas) I was not aware of the marriage to Sukey Turner but it may have occurred in GA or AL. Hope this helps.
