Hi Gerry
I went to your web site and had a little trouble. It brought up the Moore page the first time, but when I went back in later to look at dates it would not bring it up. I tried several times, maybe my aol.
Dr. B.H. Moore was one of those old time doctors that came to your house. My grandmother was blind and had other medical problems. My mother had him come out and he realized he knew my grandmother from years before. After they became reaquainted He use to come to her house and take a nap in between calls.
He told me he got hurt falling off a horse.
They seemed to have a few secrets, I was a little girl then and if I was at my grandmas and they thought I wasn't listening, they whispered back and forth. Sounds a little weird but--. Mrs Moore and some other woman and him of course use to come for dinner when my grandmother was able to cook.
My grandparents were poor and lived in an old (what we called an old field shack)and I know Dr Moore was well to do, but they were all very happy to be together.
He delivered my sisters first baby in 1945 and took care of my mother in the hospital a few times. He never charged my mother or grandmother any thing. My sister paid him for delivering the baby but it was very reasonable.
He told me when I graduated high school he would pay for me to take nurses training,( I married and moved to Syracuse N.Y,) so never took him up on his offer. He died between 1950 ,when I finished school married and moved to NY, and 1956.
I always thought his name was Billy, not Benjamin, so it may not be the same family. My grandmother said it was Billy not a nick name for William. I do know my Aunt told me about all the boys 10, graduating from college and how the whole family helped the one that needed it next.
My grandmothers' Odom family lived in Bowie Co., Hood Parker, Hill, Hopkins and Lamarr. In 1898 a Moore family lived in Bowie Co. on the Odom place. In 1919 B.H. Moore married a Lydia Hays, 7-21-1919, I have always wondered if this was him.
I noticed you have some Prices, and Walkers in your line. The Odoms intermarried with those names. My ggrandfathers name was Martin V. Odom.Hope I haven't bored you with this but would like to know more about this family of Moores.
Hallie
