The Moor name and Alabama suggests that you might be a part
of the same Moor line as I.I go back through Hezekiah Balch Moor to Joseph Moor to Charles Moor of Richmond, VA.
There, I am stuck--Charles Moor's lineage is unknown. Using his last two childrens' birth years (1750, 1732), and his
other four children (whose birth dates are unknown), I can
guess that Charles Moor was born around 1700-1705.
My family lore states that two Moor brothers came to Virginia from an unknown port in the British Isles. The brothers are said to have been of Scottish origin.
Hezekiah B. Moor (Sr.) was born in Roane Co, TN in 1793, but after marriage and the first two children (Born in
Roane City in 1813 and 1815, he moved into Mississipi, then
into northern Alabama, where 10 of his 15 children were born (including #10, Bluford Lafayette Moor, from whom I am descended. Hezekiah died in Jefferson Co, AL on 6 Nov, 1881.
I would appreciate any information on Charles Moor's
lineage, or the Moor brothers, their origin in Scotland, or
their voyage and arrival in Virginia.
