My grandmother, Addie Lou Mooney Cook, and my great-grandfather James Wilson Mooney, were compensated by the government when the government settled with the Indians. However, I can find no record on the Indian rolls in Oklahoma. I contacted the Oklahoma Indian office, they could not find either of them. I have contacted the office in North Carolina. Their records only go back to 1835. My Native American ancestor, Sabatha, Anglican spelling, was born in S.C. about 1780, married Michael Mooney. If you have a suggestion or direction for me to persue, I would be most appreciative.
